Created in the early 1990s, the knockdown texture was—and still is—popular for residential and commercial interiors. You create it by lightly, evenly applying a layer of joint compound to the drywall in raised peaks, then flattening the peaks with a drywall knockdown knife. The resulting texture is natural and subtle. It also excellently hides taped seams and other imperfections.
Knockdown texture knives are used to flatten wall and ceiling texture patterns for that "knocked down" look. It erases trowel lines without creating chatter marks like other knives. For some of the best knockdown knives on the market, shop at Timothy's Toolbox. We carry durable, efficient knives from tried-and-true brands like AMES and TexMaster. They come in 12", 18", 22", 24", and 36" sizes so that you can stock up for any sized texturing job.
